Tímea Hvozdíková

Tímea studied her masters degree in composition at Mozarteum Universität, Salzburg in the class of Johannes Maria Staud, graduating in 2023. Prior to that, she started her education at the Košice State Conservatory and later on at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Her music has been performed within festivals and concert events around Europe such as Time of Music Viitasaari, Nouvelle Vague in Philharmonie de Paris, most notably by Ensemble Linea, NAMES Ensemble, Ensemble Multilatérale, Les Métaboles, Cantando Admont and among others. She has also taken part in various masterclasses with composers and conductors as Yann Robin, Francesco Filidei, Eva Reiter, Tristan Murail, and Helena Tulve.

In 2019 her piece Nezábudka II for string orchestra and choir was selected to be premiered by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra with conductor Kaspar Mänd at the ISCM World Music Days in Tallinn. She was also one of the laureates at the GENERACE international composition competition in 2018 and 2019 with her pieces Výkriky for violin duo and Nezábudka III for piano.

She has twice been a winner of a brilliance grant from Central European Foundation for outstanding academic achievements and a recipient of stipends from Slovak Arts Council to research on the effects of synaesthesia on her creative process and the subsequent perception of music in space.
