Reinier Badilla Martínez

Reinier studied at SEAD Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in Austria, graduating in 2018. Currently, he is a Master's degree student in Movement Research at Anton Bruckner Universität in Linz. He began his dance education at the National University (UNA) in Costa Rica. He learned lighting design with Álvaro Piedra and Emilio Aguilar during his dance studies. Prior to this, he studied violin in the precollege program at UNA, in the class of Patricia González Rodríguez.

Since 2014, he has been based in Salzburg and has worked in productions with Salzburg Festspiele, Bad Hall Stadttheater, Stiftung Mozarteum, Mozarteum University, Colectivo El Cuerpo Habla and choreographers Jorge Sánchez, Michikazu Matsune and Anastasia Valsamaki. He has taught workshops at Compañía CCDUNA, Anton Bruckner Universität, Festival Paréntesis UCR, ImPulsTanz Public Moves, Tanzhafen Festival, Contemporary Prague, MST Tyumen, Hábitat Oaxaca, Marafiki Festival Tanzania, among others.

In 2020, he founded the company La Intempestiva, which he leads as Artistic Director alongside the Italian choreographer Anna Chiara Görig, with whom he creates and teaches closely. He has premiered so far four original pieces and multiple commissions. As director, he is also curator of the program LofTanz, which the company coproduces with RedSapata Linz. He works as professional lighting designer since 2016. His work is supported by Land Salzburg, Stadt Salzburg, Land Oberösterreich and BMEIA.

He has performed, taught and created in Austria, Germany, Czechia, France, Malta, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Mexico, Mali, Kenya, Tanzania and both European and Siberian Russia.
